Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord

If you go on Youtube, you'll see many videos of various people from different countries who make videos to promote their countries' military and technological advancement. Today's countries (not just India) boast about their weapons as well as put their trust and dependence on the power from such weapons. No matter how powerful a weapon is, whatever humans make has the chance to malfunction/fail. It is much better to trust in God for your defense. God is much more powerful than any weapon that humans could ever make. God has power over even nature which has menaced humans throughout history (ex. earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, tornadoes, etc.). People fear asteroids and meteors destroying the earth. However, who is in control of the objects in space? God. God can use nature to destroy armies and nations altogether. He has the power to send down fire from heaven to consume armies. Humans want to rely and boast in their own strength instead of seeing God as their true source of strength and sustenance. In the Bible, Samson made that mistake also. He boasted in his strength instead of seeing that God was the One empowering him to be victorious in battles. Sometimes, Samson struggled with narcissism/failed to give God glory and he also struggled with lack of faith/grumbling against God (refer to Judges 15:16-18). He praised his weapon (jawbone of a donkey) and himself for killing a thousand Philistines. He boasted in himself and then tells God that "You have accomplished this great victory by the strength of your servant." Samson was deluded. The Spirit of God was the source of Samson's strength. Samson was merely a tool in the hands of God. Can a hammer tell you that it was able to drive a nail all by itself? No, a hammer gets its power from the power of your upper limb. Without your power, it has no power and it isn't able to drive a nail or do anything else. Similarly, we need God to empower us in order to do everything. God didn't even need Samson to achieve victories. Like I said earlier,  God has the power to send down fire from heaven to consume entire armies. God also has power over the forces of nature (refer to my other post "A perspective to overcome lust"). God wants you and me to be superheroes who imitate Him by resisting the power of sin. If all of us would transform into such spiritual heroes, the world would be a better place (peace instead of war and the amassing of weapons to kill each other). The problem is, people love sin too much to embrace righteousness. That is the root of all the problems in the world today and it will be the cause of their own destruction (i.e. in their love for sin/evil, they destroy themselves).

Psalm 33:12-21 (NLT):
"What joy for the nation whose God is the Lord,
whose people he has chosen as his inheritance.
13 The Lord looks down from heaven
and sees the whole human race.
14 From his throne he observes
all who live on the earth.
15 He made their hearts,
so he understands everything they do.
16 The best-equipped army cannot save a king,
nor is great strength enough to save a warrior.
17 Don’t count on your warhorse to give you victory—
for all its strength, it cannot save you.
18 But the Lord watches over those who fear him,
those who rely on his unfailing love.
19 He rescues them from death
and keeps them alive in times of famine.
20 We put our hope in the Lord.
He is our help and our shield.
21 In him our hearts rejoice,
for we trust in his holy name."

Psalm 20:7-8 (NLT):
"Some nations boast of their chariots and horses,
but we boast in the name of the Lord our God.
8 Those nations will fall down and collapse,
but we will rise up and stand firm."

Revelation 20:7-9 (NLT):
"When the thousand years come to an end, Satan will be let out of his prison. 8 He will go out to deceive the nations—called Gog and Magog—in every corner of the earth. He will gather them together for battle—a mighty army, as numberless as sand along the seashore. 9 And I saw them as they went up on the broad plain of the earth and surrounded God’s people and the beloved city. But fire from heaven came down on the attacking armies and consumed them."
