I just wanted to share my thoughts regarding this topic:
(1). Pastor Shameer hit the bulls-eye regarding this topic of prosperity gospel/carnal minded Christianity. He should be applauded for taking a stand against carnality. However, many people will hate what he preaches because they are no different from the Israelites in the Old Testament and during Jesus' time (refer to Luke 6:20-26). They rather applaud the carnal minded preachers who will say whatever to please their itching ears (sinful nature), as they are narcissistic sociopaths- people with dead consciences who hate what is good and instead love what is evil. They are the very children of the devil (refer to John 8:42-47; 1 Timothy 4:1-2; 1 John 3:3-19 and 3 John 1:11). John the Baptist and Yeshua (Jesus) came across these sociopaths during their ministry on earth. When they taught them God's message of repentance, they killed both of them. Paul warned Timothy that this sociopathy would persist and only grow worse (refer to 2 Timothy 3:1-9,13-14) during the last days. 2 Timothy chapter 3 shows us (genuine believers) how to identify such impostors (fake followers) among Christianity and moreover, stay away from them and not associate with them (refer to 2 Timothy 3:5 and 1 Corinthians 5:11-12). We are witnessing this narcissistic sociopathy (through carnality) among our own midst in Malayalees/other Indians as they too have a problem with narcissistic sociopathy. Examples of this include trying to elevate one's self/compete with others- i.e. based on material success and spirituality in the church (who has a better degree and career, who has a better car and house, who has a more attractive spouse and children, who is able to live abroad, who is able to travel to other countries, who is more active in church, etc.). Today, prosperity gospel has begun to drown the Biblical Gospel message. Who empowers such false teachers? Satan and his demons (refer to 1 Timothy 4:1-2 and 2 Timothy 4:3), as he is the master of perverting God's ways (refer to Acts 13:10). Just like how Satan uses various companies to market ungodly and/or unhealthy products (ex. unhealthy/junk food, sodas, TV, movies, music, sports, video games, etc.)- many of which end up causing addictions in people as well as destroying their mind and body, in a similar way, Satan markets carnal minded Christianity to destroy man's body and soul [i.e. trap them and subject them to God's eternal punishment for not getting rid of their sinful behavior while on earth (prevent them from truly repenting of their sins)]. Out of Satan's hatred for Christianity, he influences carnal minded "Christians" (those who love and justify licentiousness/carnality through their doctrines) to destroy their churches as well as themselves. That's why he's the ultimate sociopath (he causes problems between people as well as get them to destroy themselves). Satan markets his carnal minded/false form of Christianity to people as it appeals to their sinful nature (I've shared regarding this in my other blog post (refer to Satan's marketing of carnal minded Christianity among Pentecostals and the Brethren) when I was commenting on one of Jude Mission's videos.
(2). Just wanted to add to what I said above, regarding what Pastor Shameer said in another message that he had given during a Pentecostal conference in Florida regarding what he witnessed among American Malayalees (refer to the Youtube clip Pastor Shameer's observation of American Malayalees). He had stated how Malayalee wives tend to dominate/disrespect their husbands in America because they have a better education, job and salary than them (as many Malayalee men are uneducated and have married nurses). Because of the nurse's salary and prosperity, this has had many consequences:
(i). such women engage in intimate partner abuse (i.e. psychologically/physically abuse their husbands) because they themselves suffer from narcissistic sociopathy. Their prosperity has turned them into narcissists (a big head/huge pride/ego) where they think they are better than others who are less privileged/inferior to them.
(ii). I believe this is also something Satan has capitalized on to promote his carnal minded gospel message (which you were sharing in the video). He has deceived people to think that it's through the Holy Spirit's favoritism that such people are able to prosper so much. When poor people see that, they either get discouraged themselves or find false hope from false teachers who brainwash them to think that the Gospel is all about getting material wealth so that you can become like the prosperous Malayalees around you (i.e. instilling the sin of covetousness in the poor). Carnal minded Christians are foolish and have failed to understand the Gospel message. When God blesses a person to become wealthy, it's so that they can share their wealth with those who are less fortunate/poor than them, not so that they can only enjoy the blessings for themselves. The early church demonstrated this behavior as they properly understood the teachings of Jesus (refer to Matthew 19:21-30; Matthew 25:14-30; Acts 2:44-47 and Acts 4:32-37). They realized that nothing they owned was their own and instead they shared everything they had with others. This is what regeneration (being born again) by the power of the Holy Spirit is all about. Regeneration brings about metanoia (a change of mind/heart) from the old carnal self into a new righteous mentality. Following Christ is not about becoming rich materialistically, instead it's all about:
(a). becoming rich in your faith in God (refer to James 2:5-6)
(b). and if you do pursue wealth, it should be with the goal of desiring to use it to help others who are in need. In other words, one should work hard to make money to not impress others and use it only for your own enjoyment, but instead, find inspiration to become wealthy so that you can put a roof over a homeless person's head, help them to succeed in their education and get a job (get them off of the streets), give hope to those who are in hopelessness and despair because they are having a hard time paying their bills, etc. (refer to Acts 20:33-35).
Refer to other passages also (Hebrews 13:5; 1 John 2:15-17; Luke 16:13-17 and 2 Peter 2:1-22).
Pastor Shameer is right, the preaching of a prosperity gospel needs to end as it causes other people to sin by causing them to covet worldly things. It causes them to feel inadequate when the Bible teaches that they shouldn't love money, but instead trust and depend only on God.
Many of these carnal minded Christians (especially those who live abroad in places like America) don't realize that God can trap them when they fail to repent. What do I mean by this? Satan has destroyed America by creating a poor primary and secondary education system (i.e. elementary school, middle school, and high school) which doesn't prepare young people for college in the U.S. Only the college level education in America is up to standards with the rest of the world. When comparing the above American lower school levels (elementary/primary school, middle school, and high school) with places like India (which are based on the British system), the American school system is poor in many areas. The only area they probably excel better than India is in English. Everything else (i.e. mathematics and science), Indian schools excel better than them. This is why many Americans (whether Caucasians, African Americans, Latinos, etc.) struggle and live in poverty in America. However, even then, the Indian education system tends to overwhelm its students regarding memorizing (i.e. overdoing it)- which can still cause many students to fail (as memorizing too much can become an impossible task). The American education system at certain points in the education process test students with standardized tests (multiple choice questions- aka MCQs). This is the ideal way to help students to study and master subjects- however, where they fail is to implement this for an entire course of study. For example, for a particular subject (e.g. Chemistry), after they go through their lesson plans from the textbook, they usually give MCQs (where they tell students what questions will come on the test) and mix this with essay response questions. Then towards the end of a course, they can blindside students by administering a standardized MCQ test where they don't tell the students what questions will come on the exam. Thus, students fail to become sensitized to standardized testing and many end up failing/flunking out. American educators need to get rid of their mixed/confusing testing methods and just stick to one. What I've found useful is giving students a pool of MCQ questions (similar to a question bank) which is flash-card based (which makes helps students master the technique of taking standardized tests) and teach based on this method everyday (just do questions in class and explain their concepts and give flash-card based material to the students so that they can go back and study everyday). Based on that question pool, they should make standardized tests which test the knowledge of the student (through quizzes, tests, mid-term, and final exams). Indian educators should do the same, instead of expecting students to memorize textbooks altogether and write essays. It's gross negligence on the part of both American and Indian educators to use improper methods to teach and test students.
Satan has used the capitalist elitists in America (many of whom are carnal minded “Christians”) to make them dumb as I believe they want slaves (those who work minimum wage/blue collared jobs) to do their work. Thus, this is why I believe that this can also be a trap for Indians living in America who are becoming proud and propagating carnal minded Christianity (as their children can end up suffering in the future when educated in such poor environments). Carnal minded Christianity has its modern roots from the westernization of Christianity (i.e. from the Protestant Reformation which has propagated various doctrines like sola fide, sola gratia, penal substitutionary atonement, imputed righteousness and unconditional eternal security) to allow carnal minded Christians to justify their wickedness (i.e. promoting their elitism by mistreating/cheating others). This is seen through Protestant branches/ideologies like Calvinism. Protestantism was never the solution to the corruption of the Catholic church (who were very similar to the Pharisees in Jesus' time, as they perverted good works- refer to Matthew 23:1-36 and Mark 7:1-23). Protestantism today is no better than Catholicism, as it has perverted salvation by propagating the message that one can have a dead faith not coupled with good works/obedience to God as well as be able to abuse God's grace and forgiveness into licentiousness. This clearly contradicts Scripture (refer to Acts 26:20; James 2:14-26; Titus 2:14, and Jude 1:4). Satan perverted good works/obedience to God through the hypocrisy/double standards and man made requirements of holiness of the Pharisees and Catholics while he negated good works/obedience to God altogether through most Protestants. Thus, he was able to dissociate a saving faith coupled with good works/obedience to God through various groups. Unfortunately for Satan, God has raised me up to expose him so that people can hear the right message and be led to righteousness through the right Gospel message of Jesus Christ (refer to my post What must you do to be saved?).
America is only intimidating because of it's military power and the cut-throat tactics of their merchants/investors on Wall Street to dominate the world's economy, all the while neglecting to help their own citizens to get white collared jobs (good salary jobs). America has had a problem with slavery in the past, and I still don't think that menace has left America. Elitists are Satan's sociopathic human henchmen sent out to accomplish his agenda to establish a new world order and a one world religion. What sorrows await such elitists (refer to James 5:1-6 and Revelation 18:23) when they deceive and destroy people in their own country as well as wage war with the rest of the world. For more on this, please refer to my posts:
Many American voters think they have found their messiah who will solve all of their problems
Recognizing Satan and his demons working through people around us
Nothing is impossible for us if we are united in heart and mind
However, do you see a similar thing happening in churches today? The same type of elitism is being propagated by Satan through his carnal minded teachings (prosperity gospel). Satan is the mastermind of elitism both in the Church and outside of the Church (in the secular areas). These elitists are narcissistic sociopaths, just like their father, Satan. Both narcissism (aka narcissistic personality disorder) and sociopathy (aka antisocial personality disorder) are mental disorders.
Just wanted to mention the following Bible passage (i.e. 1 Timothy 6:5-14,17-19) in addition to the thoughts I've already shared. Verse 5 of that passage warns true Christians regarding carnal minded Christians/false teachers. Carnal minded Christians make wealth/worldly success as an indicator of spirituality/favor from God. The propaganda being promoted by carnal minded Bible teachers is that being filled by the Holy Spirit will lead to material blessings. One of the common forms (of being filled by the Holy Spirit) demonstrated by charismatics is through their fake practice of tongues and other spiritual gifts. How much of that is faked today? I believe many false teachers/pastors have found a business/income through such deception- refer to the following Youtube clips: Choreographed healing services of charismatics and RSS activist posing as a pastor). Now even Hindus mock/mimic such charismatic Christians regarding their deception. Paul addressed this in 1 Timothy 6:5 where he says that such show of godliness is just a way to become wealthy for such carnal minded Christians. To such people, a show of fake/superficial godliness (through the demonstration of spiritual gifts, being active in church, doing good deeds to be noticed by others, etc.) is a way to become wealthy. They can use this as a means of deceiving the poor to think that they are not blessed/wealthy enough compared to others because they are not spiritual enough. Such false teachers can then tell these people to give them money (and equate that to giving money for the Lord's work) and thereby earn an income through such deception. The messages of such false teachers which promote carnal minded Christianity/licentiousness also cater to the itching ears of carnal minded people who are ready to financially support them. The Bible further reveals how such carnal minded Christians (impostors within Christianity), reject God's power that could truly make them godly (refer to 2 Timothy 3:5). The Bible teaches (refer to 1 Timothy 6:6-8) that "true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth and to be content if we have enough food and clothing." Satan tries to distract believers (especially the poor among Christians) regarding that truth through false teachers who instead promote carnality/pursuit of wealth. Their goal is to brainwash people and instill inadequacies in people by making them feel that they lack certain things when comparing themselves to those who are wealthier than them. This is how they instill the sin of covetousness in people. They can also destroy people's faith in God by making them feel inadequate and thereby make them doubt and grumble against God for showing favoritism to people around them. Jesus gave a warning to such carnal minded people who cause others to sin- refer to Matthew 18:6-9. Many carnal minded Christians think that they have favor from God (despite being evil) because they are materially blessed/wealthy. The Bible states such people only deceive themselves and others into their eternal destruction.
2 Timothy 3:13 (NLT):
But evil people and impostors will flourish. They will deceive others and will themselves be deceived.
1 Timothy 6:5 (NLT):
These people always cause trouble. Their minds are corrupt, and they have turned their backs on the truth. To them, a show of godliness is just a way to become wealthy.
2 Timothy 3:5 (NLT):
They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that!
2 Peter 2:1-3 (NLT):
But there were also false prophets in Israel, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will cleverly teach destructive heresies and even deny the Master who bought them. In this way, they will bring sudden destruction on themselves. 2 Many will follow their evil teaching and shameful immorality. And because of these teachers, the way of truth will be slandered. 3 In their greed they will make up clever lies to get hold of your money. But God condemned them long ago, and their destruction will not be delayed.
Did the 12 disciples and other servants like Paul become wealthy when they were filled by the Holy Spirit to serve God through their ministries? No. People like Paul still struggled to make a living (he was a cobbler by profession). The early church demonstrated what it means to be wealthy in Christ:
(1). They realized that nothing they owned was their own and so they shared everything they had with each other. Instead of focusing on one's self to become wealthy, they decided to share with each other so that everyone's needs would be met (refer to Acts 2:44-47 and Acts 4:32-37). In other words, they allowed God to work through them to make the poor among them wealthy/equal with them.
(2). They learned to be content with whatever they had. This is the message seen throughout the New Testament. Nowhere in the New Testament does it echo the message being taught by carnal minded Bible teachers (i.e. the filling of the Holy Spirit will lead to material blessings). If anyone can find such a verse in the New Testament, please provide it. Otherwise, such messages are only false teachings.
Jude Mission had published a video with Pastor Shibu Peediakal and Ashish Jacob questioning the worthiness of Pastor Shameer Kollam to be a pastor (refer to How is Pastor Shameer Kollam worthy to be a pastor?). I don't know if Pastor Shameer went to a Pentecostal Bible college or not. However, if people like him can teach the right things to lead others to righteousness, then they should be allowed to teach. Were the 12 disciples of Christ and Paul all trained in Bible colleges and seminaries? No. God used fishermen, tax collectors, cobblers, etc. (with no previous theological training/education) for His ministry work. Today's Christians have lost focus of that and demand that people need to be trained by seminaries and Bible colleges (many of which are controlled by Satan and promote false doctrines) in order to be accepted. The funny thing is how Satan creates confusion even among the seminary/Bible college trained pundits. That's why you see the ongoing disagreements and debates even regarding spiritual gifts between Pentecostals and groups like the Brethren. Seminaries/Bible colleges today produce cult leaders and false teachers. Thus, it is better to stay away from the products of such institutions as they are the agents of the devil. The whole purpose of requiring Bible teachers to be trained by an institution is to prevent false doctrines being promoted. However, in the modern age, what is the point of this when the institutions themselves propagate false teachings and train people to become false teachers? Trust and rely only on the Holy Spirit to teach you. Never depend solely on theologians/Bible pundits as they can have the spirit of the devil working through them to deceive you.
1 John 2:24-27 (NLT):
So you must remain faithful to what you have been taught from the beginning. If you do, you will remain in fellowship with the Son and with the Father. 25 And in this fellowship we enjoy the eternal life he promised us.
26 I am writing these things to warn you about those who want to lead you astray. 27 But you have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true—it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ.
